Rhinoplasty in Cambridge, MA

Also commonly referred to as a “nose job,” rhinoplasty is the cosmetic procedure that reshapes the nose to produce a more harmonious, aesthetically pleasing facial profile.

Rhinoplasty can also serve to improve breathing and other functions of the nose in addition to cosmetic enhancement.

Who is a Good Candidate?

If you are self-conscious about your nose for any reason and are in overall good health, you are likely a good candidate for a rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty can solve a variety of problems with the nose including cosmetic issues as well as functional problems such as difficulty breathing through the nose or frequent sinus infections.

The nose is a prominent feature of the face and anyone dissatisfied with their nose or facial profile may be an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure

Dr. Silver takes great pride in listening carefully to the desired outcome and expectations of her clients. Therefore, before any procedure, extensive planning will take place before surgery is scheduled.

When designing your new nose, Dr. Silver will carefully consider all your facial features, such as cheekbones, jawline, skin thickness and overall facial symmetry in order to create the right nose for your face. Once a decision has been agreed upon, surgery will be scheduled at the hospital or surgical center for your safety and comfort.

The procedure will be performed under general anesthesia and can last between two and four hours.

Incisions are typically hidden inside the nose and on occasion in the skin between the nostrils if necessary. The skin, soft tissue, and cartilage of the nose are then gently sculpted to create its new form.

Results and Recovery

Some nasal congestion and pressure can be expected during the first days following a rhinoplasty, but that will soon decrease along with any swelling from the procedure. A nasal cast or splint will help support and protect the changes made. It typically comes off after the first week to reveal the results of the procedure. There may still be some swelling and bruising at this time, and final results may not be fully visible for a year after the surgery. For our other facial surgeries, click here!
