Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a plastic surgeon?

One of the most important questions to ask your surgeon is whether he or she is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. A state license is required to practice medicine but in order to know whether your surgeon has expertise in a particular specialty, you should ask if he or she is Board certified in that particular specialty.

Surgeons who have completed the Board certification process have completed a written and oral examination in their specialty and are required to maintain their knowledge with continued medical education. Another important question to ask is how much experience your surgeon has with a particular procedure.

Dr. Terri Silver is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She trained at the prestigious Harvard Plastic Surgery Program and has extensive experience in all aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

How much does plastic surgery cost?

The cost varies depending on the procedure. Botox and fillers can range between $250-1000 while a full body makeover can be over $10,000. The best way to find out about cost is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Silver. She will be able to assess your particular needs and we can provide you with a quote that is tailored to your desires.

Is there a charge for a consultation with Dr. Silver?

Yes, there is a fee for a cosmetic consultation but this would be deducted from the cost of your procedure. If you are seeing Dr. Silver for a reconstructive (medically necessary) procedure, your insurance may cover the visit. If this is the case, you would be responsible for the insurance’s co-payment. Ask about this when booking your appointment and we can assist you in determining if your visit would be considered cosmetic or reconstructive.

What should I expect to happen at my consultation?

Dr. Silver will take a detailed history and perform a thorough physical examination. She will discuss with you what you would like to change and learn about your desired result. She will talk to you about your options to achieve this desired result including both surgical and non-surgical procedures. You will learn about the procedures and the risks involved. She will take photos for pre-operative assessment. At the end of your visit, you will meet with Jane, Dr. Silver’s patient coordinator, to discuss the cost of your desired procedure.

If I decide to book my procedure, how long will I have to wait?

Most procedures can be booked within a month. Jane will discuss your preference of dates and we do our best to accommodate you and your schedule. We know how difficult it is to take time out of your busy schedule for a surgical procedure so we will make every effort to help you fit this in.

What is the recovery time from plastic surgery?

Again, this really depends on the procedure. Botox and fillers have virtually no downtime while a tummy tuck may have a 4-6 week recovery time. Dr. Silver will let you know at the time of your visit what the predicted recovery time will be for your procedure.
