Blepharoplasty in Cambridge, MA

Blepharoplasty, also called an eyelid lift, is the cosmetic procedure that corrects a variety of eyelid related conditions such as droopy upper eyelids, puffiness, fine wrinkles and sagging under the eyes. For other facial surgery procedures we offer, click here.

By removing excess skin and repositioning the tissues that surround the eyes, blepharoplasty can easily provide a more youthful, alert and attractive appearance.

Who is a Good Candidate?

If you feel your eyes portray a tired and aged look, you are likely an excellent candidate for blepharoplasty.

Overall good health, being a non-smoker, and having realistic expectations are also qualities found in great candidates.

The Procedure

After discussing your desired outcome and expectations, you and Dr. Silver can determine which type of blepharoplasty is right for you. Each technique addresses a specific concern, and many are done together to correct more than one issue if necessary.

Preparing for a blepharoplasty will likely include pictures to document the transition and explain what will occur during the procedure. Labs and a complete physical exam may also be required to detect any pre-existing conditions in case special considerations need to be taken.

Blepharoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia, but local or IV sedation may be considered as well in certain situations. The procedure will be performed in a safe and controlled environment like the hospital or accredited surgical facility on an outpatient basis for most clients.

Once sedation or anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Silver will make tiny incisions around the eye that will be hidden in skin creases and unnoticeable afterward. During the procedure, excess skin will be trimmed, and the tissues, and remaining skin will be lifted and tightened resulting in a long-lasting, youthful and vibrant appearance.

Results and Recovery

Most blepharoplasty clients can start enjoying and showing off their bright new look within as little as 10-14 days after initial swelling and bruising from the procedure has subsided.
Complete healing may take a few months, but there is little pain associated with blepharoplasty. Dr. Silver will recommend special post-op instructions after your procedure so be sure to follow them carefully for optimal healing and results.
